This Project, titled “Reducing Iron Deficiency Anaemia through the Use of Cast Iron Pots,” is a pilot nutritional intervention running from July 2025 to November 2026 in Shivapuri, Nuwakot. The project targets 100 households specifically adolescent girls, women, and young children to combat anaemia by introducing cast iron cookware as a sustainable, low cost source of dietary iron.

The program aims for significant physiological improvements, including a 1.1-1.6 g/dl increase in haemoglobin levels and a 26% rise in ferritin. To ensure a 95% adoption rate, the distribution of pots is paired with community education on cooking techniques such as using acidic ingredients to boost iron absorption and behavioral change programs to overcome social or culinary barriers.

By documenting success stories and clinical data in a digital repository, the project seeks to prove that this blend of traditional wisdom and modern science is a scalable model for public health across Nepal.
